Project Brief

The Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages (OCIL) is a national body established to support the reclamation, revitalization, maintenance, and strengthening of Indigenous languages in Canada. The Office approached Jay Leslie to lead the creative and strategic development of their campaign to raise awareness of the Recognition of the Languages Act (ROTL).

The Challenge:

The Rhythms of the Land campaign required a public-facing narrative that honoured the depth and diversity of Indigenous languages while remaining accessible, professional, and aligned with government protocols. The challenge was to balance cultural significance with broad public understanding—and to do so within a tight timeframe.
